Legal
Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 6, 2026
Last updated: October 6, 2026
Applies to: healthvela.com, the Vela Health web app, and related services
Summary
This policy explains how Vela Wellness, LLC (“Vela Health,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and
shares
consumer health data as defined by Washington’s My Health My Data Act
(RCW 19.373), Nevada’s consumer health data law (SB 370), and similar state laws. It
supplements our
Privacy Notice. We do
not sell
consumer health data. We do
not use it for advertising. We do
not train AI models on it.
01
Consumer health data we collect
Depending on the features you use, we may collect:
- Conditions and symptoms — skin and other health conditions, symptoms,
severity, flares, and how you feel day to day
- Medications and treatments — prescriptions, topicals, supplements,
remedies, and allergies
- Health history — personal and family history you choose to share
- Lifestyle and behavior — diet, sleep, stress, movement, sunlight,
triggers, and daily check-ins
- Body measurements — age, sex, height, weight, and similar details
- Lab and record uploads — lab reports, imaging notes, health records,
and values extracted from them
- Photos — skin or progress photos and images of labs or medication
labels you upload
- Connected device data — activity, sleep, or heart-rate data you choose
to sync from Apple Health or Google Fit
- Notes and conversations — free-text notes, journal entries, and
questions you ask in the app
- Inferences — patterns, insights, and suggestions we derive from the data
above
We do not collect precise geolocation, and we do not collect biometric identifiers (such as
face or fingerprint templates).
02
Why we collect it and how we use it
- To provide the features you request — check-ins, pattern insights, care-plan suggestions,
lab reading, and AI-assisted educational answers
- To personalize the educational content and guides we show you
- To read and extract values from files you upload
- To keep your account secure and prevent fraud or abuse
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not use consumer health data for advertising, to make insurance,
employment, or credit decisions, or to train AI models.
03
Where it comes from
- Directly from you, when you fill in forms, log check-ins, upload files, or chat in the app
- From apps and devices you choose to connect (Apple Health, Google Fit)
- From our own analysis of the data above (inferences)
04
Consumer health data we share
We share only the consumer health data needed for the feature you are using. For example,
when you ask an AI-powered question or upload a lab report, the relevant health details and
files are sent to our AI and storage providers so they can return a response to you. We do
not share your health data with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not sell it.
05
Who we share it with
Categories of third parties that may receive consumer health data:
- Cloud hosting and database providers — to store your account and
health data
- Private file storage providers — to store files you upload
- AI inference providers — to generate educational responses to your
requests, under our instructions and not for their own purposes
- Email delivery providers — to send weekly insight emails, which can
mention your condition and patterns. You can turn these off in Account settings.
- People you choose to share with — for example, a clinician you send a
share link to
- Authorities, when legally required — in response to a valid legal
process, such as a court order
Sign-in, payment, and analytics providers receive account and usage information, not the
health data you enter. We currently have no affiliates that receive consumer health data.
You can ask for a list of the specific companies that have received your data (see
Your rights).
06
Consent
We collect consumer health data only as necessary to provide the product or service you
request, or with your consent. We share it only as necessary to provide that product or
service, or with your separate consent. We will never sell consumer health data. You can
withdraw consent at any time by deleting the relevant data in the app, deleting your
account, or emailing us.
07
Your rights and how to use them
- Confirm and access — confirm whether we collect, share, or sell your
consumer health data, get a copy of it, and get a list of all third parties and affiliates
we have shared it with, with their contact information
- Withdraw consent — stop our collection or sharing of your consumer
health data where it is based on consent
- Delete — have your consumer health data deleted. We will also notify
the processors and third parties that received it so they delete it too. Data in backup
systems is deleted within six months.
How to make a request: delete individual uploads in Records, or delete your
whole account in Account settings in the app. For any request, email
info@healthvela.com with the subject “Health Data
Request.” We will verify your identity before acting on a request.
We respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we may extend this once by another 45 days
and will tell you why. Requests are free up to twice a year. We will not discriminate
against you for exercising these rights.
09
Geofencing
We do not use geofencing around health care facilities, or anywhere else, to identify,
track, or send messages to people.
